“Mexican Suitcase” exhibit makes it to Mexico
The Mexican Suitcase: The Rediscovered Spanish Civil War Negatives by Capa, Chim, and Taro, the exhibit curated by Cynthia Young of the International Center for Photography, has finally made it back to Mexico City. It was from there that the negatives were recovered several years ago with the help of filmmaker Trisha Ziff, whose film The Mexican Suitcase narrates the negatives’ miraculous journey. After traveling from New York to Arles, Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, and Paris, the show will open at the Antiguo Colegio San Ildefonso on October 8. Cynthia Young will give a talk on October 9.
