Exhuming Basque soldiers killed the the civil war.

The Basque city Donostia (San Sebastián) and the Diputación Guipuzkoa (the provincial government) hope to exhume the bodies of around 100 Basque fighters killed in Asturias in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War.  This comes as part of a 50,000 euro program to remember Basque victims of the Spanish Civil War.

According to the mayor of Donostia Karlos Izagirre,

more than 100 fighters are believed buried in mass graves in Areces, most of them from Guipuzkoa. About 20 are from Donostia-San Sebastián.  Most of them belonged to the Eusko Indarra battalion and were members of the ANV party who “dreamt about the freedom of Euskal Herria” (Basque Country).

Supongo yo que solo no serán vascos en esa fosa común. Lucharon juntos castellanos, catalanes, vascos, andaluces, extranjeros y tantos más. Si van a identificarlos, espero que acrediten a todos los exhumados.
