Belfast IB memorial rededication

Iskra announces:

The Belfast memorial to the courageous Irish volunteers who travelled to fight against Fascism and the forces of reaction in the Spanish Civil War will be rededicated in a ceremony on saturday, the 11th of December, at 12.30pm in Writers Square. The guest speaker will be Joe Bowers of the CPI who will deliver a short talk on the valiant role of the Irish Brigadistas in Spain.

    The re-dedication and wreath laying will be preceeded by a short AGM of the Int Brigades Commemoration Committee, and a talk by local historian John Gray on Ireland in the 1930s.
    This part of the day starts at 11 am in the Premier Inn Hotel, Waring St/Donegal St corner. It WILL BE OVER in time to get to Writers’ Square for 12.30.
    The AGM is intended to start our preparations for the 75th Anniversary commemorations.
