While researching a story on Ohioans who served in the Spanish Civil War, I tried to track down Carl for an interview, and got as far as Corvallis. Local newspaper said he went to a nursing home. Sorry, I missed him. He was a truly remarkable man, backing his ideals with action, always involved in the "good fight." His book is a great source on that civil war. Steve Ostrander Awesome indeed.
